A Florida teenager is facing criminal charges after allegedly assaulting elderly relatives and threatening to stab her grandfather in the face.

Police reports say that 19 year old Katie Jade Gates became extremely angry when she was, "denied additional tomatoes for her supper". The incident occurred on September 12, at her family home in Callahan, Florida (just north of Jacksonville).

Gates' Grandmother stated that the teen allegedly threw a water bottle at her grandfather and a pack of cigarettes at a 73-year-old female relative (who was hit in the eye by cigarettes).

When the Grandfather tried to intervene, the teenager allegedly grabbed a knife and began threatening him with it.

According to a Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, Gates said “Mother [Effer], I’ll stab you in your [effing] face,” with the knife pointed at his face.

Police investigators say Gates admitted to hitting her relative in the face with the cigarette pack and also acknowledged picking up a knife and approaching her Grandfather, but denied attempting to strike him with the knife.

The teenager was arrested and charged with two felonies, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery on a victim over the age of 65.

Gates bonded out of jail after posting $18,000 bail. The judge has ordered Gates to have no contact with the victims.
