Reports of a giant shark swimming off Pinellas County beaches have been greatly exaggerated. Or, more accurately, fake.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, the videos and images are a hoax featuring a large fin sticking out of the water.
Originally spotted off Indian Rocks Beach, then off Clearwater Beach, the fin was described as sticking two feet out of the water.
