Help Catch A Lakeland Guy Who Dumped A Helpless Puppy

The Polk County Sheriff and Polk County Animal Control are looking for a man who they say dumped a young puppy on side of the road in Lakeland.
A young woman named Danielle, witnesses that she was on her way to pick up her daughter when she saw a white van parked on the side of South Pipkin Road in Lakeland. The vehicle looked out of place and somewhat suspicious, so she pulled over and began to snap pictures.
That's when she spotted a cage with a brown puppy inside, Danielle said that the dog looked to be only a few months old and was skin and bones. She immediately called animal control. Once the man dropped the puppy off on the side of the road, Danielle states that the pup appeared like it didn't know what to do, whether to chase after the man or try and dodge the traffic.
She posted about the incident on her Facebook page saying:
“That poor puppy was skin and bones …. I’m glad me and a few other cars seen what happened and helped this poor puppy and I’m glad my new phone's quick at taking pics. That poor puppy was drinking the water fast he was so hot.”
Animal Control told ABC Action News the offense is considered a misdemeanor. Personally, I feel this should be a criminal offense. This puppy has a life and feelings. The poor thing was totally helpless and left in a very dangerous situation.
Reports say while the dog did not have any serious injuries, it was very thin and urine soaked. They are looking to identify the driver of the white van. If you can identify the van, please contact the authorities in Polk County.
