Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office say they received a tip that a Texas teenager was traveling to Sarasota County with a large amount of heroin.

Deputies report following the teen as he got on a SCAT bus and then made contact with him as he got off the bus.

The police report the teen  was cooperative, and agreed to let them look in his backpack, where they found $3,000 in cash… and 11 pounds of heroin in four sealed bundles.

The Sheriff’s Office says the teen admitted to traveling with the heroin from Brownsville, Texas. He told Deputies he was supposed to take it to Tampa for a deal that ultimately fell through.

The teenager was charged with Trafficking In Heroin (More than 4 Grams) and remains in custody on $250,000 bond.
