Channel 8 reports that Florida's Attorney General is going after Air Time Air Conditioning and Heating of Tampa. They're accused of ripping off seniors like an 89 year old woman who paid $21,000 over a two to three year period. She says the charges were ridiculous. One example - she says the company wanted her to pay $1,000 to replace a light that killed mold. She was suspicious of the company and hired another to come out. She says they found the UV light was unplugged.
There are 17 customer complaints on the Better Business Bureau website for Air Time Air Conditioning & Heating, Inc. They list the company as being from Valrico. Many are from angry customers with similar complaints about high prices for unnecessary work. One customer "Rachelle E." says a worker came out to look at her AC and after 5 minutes said she needed to replace the entire system for $5600. They charged a $90 service fee. She checked with another company who came out and used a $15 part to fix her problem.
Their Yelp reviews are pretty brutal too. "Kristin L" from St. Pete Beach says she's had issues ever since her AC was put in by the company 3 years ago and that she has not had any luck getting the the company to make things right.
Definitely do your research. AC is vital living in Florida and there are plenty of great review sites like Yelp, Google Reviews and Angie's List where you can see customer comments, good and bad.
