Three tornados touched down around the Tampa Bay area Friday night, including one in Pinellas county and an EF-2 tornado hit in Polk County. Thankfully, there weren't any serious injuries, but dozens of property damage reports have been made.

Here are a couple of tips for dealing with contractors:

1. You shouldn’t have to pay the contractor in a storm damage situation. Wait for your insurance adjuster to come out. Then the contractor can bill the insurance company directly.

2. Check your contractor’s references, and you can check on a contractor's license at www.myfloridalicense.com.

3. Waiting a few days before signing anything.
