Horseback Riding By Skyway Bridge Banned In St. Petersburg
If you’re into horseback riding on the beach in St. Petersburg near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, the Pinellas County Commission has banned the activity.
Officials say it was hurting seagrass and affecting water quality.
Companies who offer the opportunity to ride in the water near the bridge are disappointed, as this will cause a loss of business.
The area where these horses were walking is a federally protected aquatic preserve.
Tests have shown pollutants in the area. Photos have shown loss of seagrasses in the area as well.
The County Commission will look into other places in St. Petersburg for horse riders.
