Bill Would Let Florida Counties Ban Smoking On Beaches

Sen Joe Gruters who represents Sarasota County filed a bill last week to allow Florida Counties to ban smoking on beaches.

If the bill passes, which it did not when he filed a similar measure last year, counties could decide for themselves to ban smoking and vaping on the beaches as well as State Parks.

It's hard to believe in 2019 that smoking is still allowed on the beach since people leave trash behind that harms wildlife. Remember this baby bird picture from last year? A Largo woman took a picture of a baby seagull with a cigarette butt in it's mouth. Poor birdie!
