Carinsurancecompanies.com posted the results of a nationwide research project and now we know which cities are the most dangerous for driving, and for car thefts.
The number one worst city based on the numbers is: Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The average number of fatalities per 100,000 people nationwide is 11.4 per year. For Baton Rouge, it's as high as 23.1. The chance of being in an accident for Baton Rouge is 55.1% above the average.
Tampa was ranked 41st on the list. The fatality rate is 13.5 per 100,000 people. and though the chances of being in a collision is higher than average, it's only +17.2% higher. Tampa's car theft rate was 147 per 100,000 people. Nationwide, the car theft rate is 237 per 100,000.
St. Petersburg came in at 81st on the list. The fatality rate was only 10.6 per 100,000 people and the chance of an accident was only +2.8% higher than average. The car theft rate was higher, though,. at 372 per 100,000 people.
The most dangerous Florida city for driving, on this list, is Ft. Lauderdale, which came in at number 14.
