After finishing the season with a 4-8 record, falling short of being bowl eligibile, the USF Bulls have chosen to make a change.

Charlie Strong had been head coach for three seasons. He was released after the USF Bulls lost their last game of the season 34-7 to their I-4 rivals, the UCF Knights.

The record for the USF Bulls went from 10-2 in Strong's first season, to 7-6 during his second, and then 4-6 in his final season with the Bulls.

He had been head coach briefly for the Florida Gators, four seasons for the Louisville Cardinals, three for the Texas Longhorns before his three for USF. He has a career record of 74–53.
