Madonna has ruffled feathers since the ’80s and her visit to Florida this week may rub some the wrong way. If you’re going to pony up the cash to see her shows this week in Miami, keep a few things in mind.
Yup. Apparently this happened this past Sunday night. With very little notice, Madonna pulled the plug before the performance saying she was suffering from knee pain again.
Don't expect Madonna to take the stage by 9pm. In Las Vegas, there was a night she didn't appear until well after midnight. The Miami Sun Sentinel reports that last night the show wrapped up at 1:30AM.
Often on the day of a show, prices on the online reseller sites plummet because scalpers start to panic that they might get stuck with unsold seats. We saw it here in Tampa with the Elton John concert. For the months leading up to his rescheduled show at Amalie Arena, nosebleed seats sold for up to $500. But on the day of the show, you could get in for well under $100. With Madonna's first Miami show last night, pit tickets were still going for $900 even as the doors were about to open. Given that these shows are at a small theater, don't expect to get a bargain.
It's becoming a thing now. Musicians and comedians don't want to be the next viral video. The Sun Sentinel in Miami reports concert goers last night had to put their phones inside a "locking pouch." When you walk out, the pouch is unlocked. They say Madonna said it was "intervention" because we're addicted to our phones. She might be right on this one.
In Florida, this seems unthinkable. But Madonna has insisted on it. It's said to be best for her injured knee. This apparently didn't go over well with the audience.
