Today is the day that the Greek Orthodox Church celebrates Festival of Epiphany, and in Tarpon Springs, it’s a huge event!
Boys will be diving this afternoon into Spring Bayou in Tarpon Springs. The archbishop will throw in a cross for one boy to retrieve and get a year of good luck.
The celebration remembers the baptism of Jesus Christ.
In Tarpon Springs, events begin at 8 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, and at 12:15, a procession to Spring Bayou will lead up to the casting of the cross into the water.
Get there early, crowds will likely be large!
