Gasparilla Piratefest is coming up Saturday, January 25. Are you headed downtown for the invasion and parade? Here’s what you need to know.

If you’re looking for parking, there will be garages and lots available. Do not park illegally-you will be towed. Pay attention to signs, particularly in south Tampa neighborhoods. There will be signs regarding parking and even one way signs added for the day.

Click here for details on parking in neighborhoods and a list of garages open for Gasparilla Day. You can also find out about bathrooms, which boils down to this: there will be Port-o-lets set up all over the area.

The invasion of pirates begins at 11:30 A.M. in Hillsborough Bay. The floatilla will enter the channel and the pirate ship will dock at the Tampa Convention Center at about 1 P.M. There will be viewing from Harbor Island all the way around to Davis Island.

After the pirates leave the ship, it’s time to find a spot along the parade route. The Gasparilla Parade of Pirates begins at Bay to Bay Blvd. and Bayshore Blvd. at around 2 P.M. The parade will take a 4 1/2 mile trip down Bayshore, turn onto Brorein Street, north on Ashley Dr. to Cass St.
