Sometimes they change the free item after a Tampa Bay Lightning home game win. Most of this season, a Bolts home win has meant a free chicken sandwich at Chick-fil-A, but in December they changed it up and fans got a milkshake instead. After tonight’s win (February 4) over Las Vegas, fans got the choice of a free sandwich, 8 chicken nuggets, or 3 chicken strips.
Here’s how it works. First, if you didn’t go to the game, it’s ok. You do not have to be at the game to get the free item. If there is a Tampa Bay Lightning home game win, open the Chick-fil-A mobile app and claim the reward before midnight. Be patient. The app doesn’t usually offer the reward until about 20-30 minutes after the game ends. The next day you can go to a Tampa area location and redeem the reward. But it does have to be the next day because the reward will expire. If the Lightning win on a Saturday, the award is good on Monday since Chick-fil-A is closed Sundays. Last season, even the few times the Lightning did lose at home, fans still got the free sandwich. This year, however, they seem to be sticking to the rules. If the Bolts lose, no freebie.
Feeling more like a burger? If the Lightning shut out the opponent OR score 4 or more goals, head to a Wendy’s location in the Tampa area and ask for a free double stack with your order. Papa John’s fans don’t get a freebie, but you do get half off your pizza the day after a Bolts win with promo code BOLTSW. Win or lose, if you wear Lightning gear Saturdays to a Tampa area Tijuana Flats, you get a free taco.
