She started in the summer of 1993 at Channel 8. Now Gayle Guyardo has made the difficult decision to leave the news desk behind after more than 3 decades on television. Guyardo shared with viewers on the Channel 8 website that she's been dealing with vocal chord issues and wants to save the voice she has left. She says her doctors feel that with a few months of vocal rest, her discomfort and pain can be reduced.

Guyardo will leave the end of this month, with her final broadcast on Channel 8 on February 28. As a guy who works on the radio, I can tell you that losing your voice is one of the most scary things any of us who work in broadcasting can deal with. All of our love to you Gayle!
