Clearwater Coast Guard Searches For Missing Boaters
The US Coast Guard – Clearwater has now joined the search for two boaters that were reported missing here in Florida waters this past week.
According to Space Coast Daily, the distress call initially went out to the Miami Coast Guard after a father and son traveling from Panama City to Vero Beach (along the Okeechobee Waterway) issued their scheduled arrival date of Tuesday, February 18th.
The two men, (81 year old Gerald Cook and 55 year old Peter Cook, and four of their dogs) were aboard a 52-foot yellow, steel vessel Rom’e did not make their destination.
The Clearwater Coast Guard Air-Crew involved in the search include a C-130J Hercules aircrew and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew.
The search has encompassed 31,499 square miles in the Gulf of Mexico since Wednesday February 19th.
