Tampa has the Tampa Theatre. But in St. Pete, movie theaters only show those big Hollywood blockbusters. You won't see a Harry Potter film or Rocky 8, but if you're a fan of indie films, St. Petersburg will be home to "Green Light Cinema" street in April 2020. The Tampa Bay Times reports Mike Hazlett moved to St. Pete from Maine five years ago. He loved the area but saw a void.

There will only be one screen, but you'll be able to see the kind of movies you don't get from big budget Hollywood studios. There will be showings of classic movies, documentaries, foreign films, and low budget independent works. The theater is at 221 Second Avenue North. Tickets for a movie will go for $10. There's discount admission for seniors, military and students. And most importantly, there will be popcorn.
