The Tampa Bay Lightning will be without their leader for a while as he recovers for about 6 to 8 weeks.

Stamkos left midway through the game on February 25th as the Lightning hosted the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was hurting from an injury that had previously been bothering him.

Stamkos sat out against the Chicago Blackhawks on February 27th, and during the game on Saturday, February 29th against the Calgary Flames, it was announced he would have surgery on Monday, March 2nd to take care of a 'core muscle injury".
