At the checkout, Publix employees are interacting with hundreds every day, which definitely increases their risk as the coronavirus spreads. Tonight Channel 8 reports that stores will have "plexiglas barriers" installed in the next two weeks. They'll be put up at the cash registers and also at customer service desks and pharmacies. They say some locations could have them installed by the end of this week. Hopefully this will not only protect the employees, but customers as well since many employees are at the age where they could carry the virus and not even know it if they're not showing any symptoms.

Another way to lower your risk (and keep Publix employees healthy) is to shop online and opt for home delivery via their instacart service. Publix introduced senior shopping hours this week.
