Downtown Tampa is lit up in blue lights on April 16, 2020 in Tampa, Florida. Landmarks and buildings across the nation are displaying blue lights to show support for health care workers and first responders on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you were hoping by Independence Day, this whole virus life will be behind us, unfortunately it looks like it’ll still be a thorn in our side. Creative Loafing reports that they talked to the powers that be for the City of Tampa and it looks like it’s a “no go” for the fireworks this year thanks to the coronavirus. It’s not completely a done deal yet. They say discussions are ongoing about it. But Tampa Mayor Jane Castor was pretty blunt, “We do not plan on doing Boom by the Bay right now.” [Source: Creative Loafing]

What’s open, what’s closed in Tampa Bay…

Some Florida businesses are reopening as the number of COVID-19 cases begin to go down. Many have limited hours and capacity so it’s a good idea to call ahead.
