It's my least favorite drive to do in Florida - the I-4 crawl from Tampa to Orlando. Hopefully things are about to get a little better. The government has given a $10 million dollar grant to Florida for new "incident management and vehicle-to-infrastructure technologies," according to BizJournals.com. The system will give you more detailed real-time traffic info figuring in accidents and weather factors.
There will be a bunch of devices set up along I-4 that will share traffic information with each other. That info will be fed into the FL511 website and mobile apps. These units will cover about 77 miles, starting in the business district in Tampa and extend to the southwest side of Orlando near the Florida Turnpike. [Source: BizJournals.com]
