It was supposed to open May 30, but due to COVID-19, the opening was delayed. The city of St. Petersburg announced their new opening date for the St. Pete Pier.
In a release, Mayor Rick Kriseman said, “It’s been a long and winding road, but we’ve arrived at our destination: A dynamic, 26-acre waterfront playground that will serve residents and visitors for generations to come. It’s time for everyone to experience all the Pier District and St. Pete Pier has to offer.”
The city is calling it an exPIERience. The new St. Pete Pier District will be a place to stroll, bike, dine, drink, shop, swim, take in a concert and more.
There will not be an organized mass gathering for the opening of the St. Pete Pier, for health and safety reasons. More details for the opening will be released soon.
