A crowd turned violent at about 1:15 A.M. Saturday morning and some Tampa police officers were injured.
Officers responded to a call at the corner of 15th St. N. and 26th Ave. E. They were investigating a call about shots fired and notification that there was a possible victim.
Upon the officers arrival, a big group of people blocked all four intersections completely blocked. Officers were trying to identify the victim and that’s when the crowd became aggressive.
People in the crowd were throwing bottles of alcohol at the officers. One officer got hit on the head and was taken to the hospital, but he has since been released. One of the other officers was struck in the back of his head and back.
