Approximately, a dozen Rays players were at the Trop working out yesterday.
It's a very intricate situation, but here are the basics: The owners and the players haven't yet been able to reach an agreement, so the owners voted to move forward based on an agreement between the league and the Players Association. (This is an agreement they made back in March.)
The owners are requesting an abbreviated season with the players receiving a prorated salary. Players would report to spring training on July 1st and the season would begin in late July.
With a 60-game season, the players would end up earning about 37% of their salaries. The players will also need to sign off on a health-and-safety protocol for coronavirus.
