Clearwater Giving Out $20 Dining Credits For These 9 Restaurants

The City of Clearwater is looking to help out local restaurants hit hard by the loss of business brought on by the coronavirus. Clearwater’s Summer 2020 Dine in Downtown Program means you get a $20 voucher to one of 9 downtown restaurants, cafes, and bars. Channel 8 says they city will give out 2,500 of these. The rest of the vouchers will be given out starting Monday here.

It looks like you need to be a Clearwater resident to take advantage of this offer. But other than that, there’s really no catch. You don’t have to dine at a certain off peak time or anything like that. You can go nights or weekends. You do, however, have to use these up by the end of August. Here are the participating restaurants:

  Hands down one of the best pizzas in the world. The first time I had Cristino's, it was so good that when I visited NYC the following week I didn't even look for pizza.

  I've waited so long for them to open a location in Pinellas. It finally happened a few months ago. Get the spicy chicken with noodles and a side of crab rangoon!

  Growing up in Maine, I was never a big Mexican food fan. But after living in California for a few years, I got hooked... and THEN I moved back to Florida where great Mexican food is hard to find. I have two places that are never fail: Miguel's on Kennedy in Tampa and Don Pancho Villa in Clearwater. It's far from fancy. But it's great!

  I do love the Ybor location most, but I'll go anywhere for that 1905 Salad! And if you know me well, if I'm raving about a SALAD, it's gotta be good.

  I like their wings, but I LOVE their fries. Perfectly seasoned. Back when I lived in California, this was my Super Bowl food every year. So glad they're popping up in Florida.

  Their signature pasta is incredibly good. It's cool pasta with grilled chicken in a balsamic glaze with feta crumbles. Thing is they serve it only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

  Being a kid from Maine, finding legit lobster rolls in Florida isn't easy. These guys are SUPER legit... even down to the whoopie pies. Yes, whoopie pies. They have them. If you're from here, you may not even know what they are.

  The wings. It's all about the wings. I don't have a pic of their wings though. I don't remember where these ones came from. But I'm sure they weren't as good.

  They're a bit pricey. You'll pay about $20 for a burger, tots and a Coke. But their burgers are creative and top notch. The goat cheese burger is my usual.

• Big Stein’s Deli

  This monstrosity you see in the photo is the "Park Avenue" triple decker. Roast beef, turkey, Swiss cheese, cole slaw pilled high with Russian dressing.

  It gets no better than Mazzaros. The Hot Italian #20 sandwich is my must get. But they have fresh pasta, pastries, wines, cheeses and it's the only place you can find the blueberry soda from Maine I love.

  It's on 4th not far from the radio station. It's a healthier choice and I'm not known for healthy eating so you know it's good. Only strike against this place is the portion size is kind of small. But it's one of those places most go to eat healthy. I'm 6'4 and about 300 pounds so I'm probably not their usual customer.

  Their chicken parmesan is probably my favorite in all of Tampa Bay. It's so good that I probably visited 2 or 3 dozen times before I finally tried their pizza, which is fantastic too. But stick the NY style. The Sicilian pizza wasn't so great.

  I know it sounds crazy but seriously this Short Rib Grilled Cheese Sandwich they served at Rays game could be the answer to the attendance problem.

  They usually serve a steak burrito for lunch that'll be your last meal of the day. Don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu here though.
