An order setting a county-wide curfew was signed to try to curb the huge numbers of positive Covid-19 cases.

Beginning Friday, July 3, the curfew will be from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. There are, of course, exemptions for essential workers including first responders, hospital workers, food delivery services and media. According to Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez, the curfew is set until further notice.

Also in the statement:

I am also rolling back the reopening of entertainment facilities, such as movie theaters, arcades, casinos (with the exception of tribal casinos, over which the County does not have jurisdiction), adult entertainment, concert houses, bowling alleys and other establishments that have recently had their plans approved by the County. I will be signing that order as well tonight.

The order also requires restaurant-goers to wear masks while seated at their table, only removing it when they eat or drink. Masks must be worn while waiting for food or in conversation.

The purpose of the curfew is to keep people from hanging out with others in groups, which has assisted in spreading the virus. No gatherings of more than 10 people, and they must be wearing masks, AND practicing social distancing.

Miami-Dade County Police will also check out businesses to make sure they follow the rules or risk fines up to $500 and 180 days in jail.
