Wouldn’t it be cool if Pinellas and Hillsborough ended up being the headquarters for the U.S. Space Force?

It’s in the realm of possibility. President Donald Trump signed into law the creation of the U.S. Space Force, the newest branch of the U.S. military.

The Air Force asked interested communities to nominate themselves as host for headquarters of the U.S. Space Force.

Governor DeSantis endorsed the bids made by Hillsborough and Pinellas.

If our counties ended up being selected, it would be a boon for the economy. The operation would bring 1,400 military and civilian jobs to our region, not to mention the aerospace business it would attract.

Here’s the cool part. Our two counties bid together. One of the strong points listed in the proposal was the fact that we are home to MacDill Air Force Base.
