What foods are representative of the state of Florida? These are ones that most closely show what great foods we do have! (And that Mason loves!)

The Florida Department of Citrus says, "The most commonly-grown varieties of Florida oranges are Navel, Hamlin, Pineapple, Ambersweet and Valencia. The fresh orange season typically runs from October through June."

Ernest Hemingway look-alike contestants participate in a key lime pie eating contest in celebration of the author's birthday July 21, during the annual Hemingway Day Festival in Key West. The winner, Denis Golden, right, was able to eat his pie first to win the competition. Hemingway spent time in Key West from 1929 to 1940 during which he wrote essays, short stories, a play, and classics such as "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "A Farewell to Arms."
