This Groundbreaking Personal Computer was Created in Florida
We weren’t always holding personal computers in one hand. No, they were much larger and not as stylish as they are in 2020, but they had to start somewhere, right?

On August 12, 1981, IBM released the IBM Model 5150 (not pictured above) - the first personal computer. This innovation of communication was created by a team of engineers and designers Boca Raton, Florida. (So maybe everyone can layoff the "Floria-duh" stuff a bit?) It was clunky, to say the least, weighing in at 21 pounds. In 1981 it cost $1,565 - which with inflation would set you back $4,414 in 2020.
Just a look at the screenshot below you can see how far computer technology has come in 39 years and thank goodness. Can you imagine working from home or homeschooling your kids during a pandemic with the IBM 5150 model? Zoom calls would certainly be different - LOL.
If you are feeling nostalgic, you can purchase your very own piece of communications history. There are many IBM 5150 model for sale on eBay.
Now we have robots that vacuum our floors, virtual reality, home workout systems have gone high tech (sorry ThighMaster), and video game competitions. Technology has sure come a long way:
