The Current

With 390 or 390 precincts reporting, incumbent Chad Chronister earned 54,111 votes, which is 62 percent of the vote, and his challenger, Brian Boswell, earned 32,618 votes.

Back in September 2017 when Rick Scott was Governor, Chronister was named interim sheriff by Scott after Sheriff David Gee announced his retirement. Chronister won the Sheriff race when he ran in November 2018 to finish out Gee’s term.

Boswell used to be a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office detective. He says he was forced into retirement after a 25 year career.

In the November General Election, Chronister will run against Gary Pruitt (D) and Ron McMullen (I).
