With some help from The Innocence Project, a Tampa man will soon be a free man, exonerated after 37 years in prison.

Thanks to some DNA evidence, physical evidence of a bite and testimony, it was proven by science that wasn't available in 1983 that Robert Duboise was not the man who raped and murdered a 19-year-old Barbara Grams. In fact, the DNA was tied to a man who is a person of interest in yet another crime.

Along with the recently found DNA, testimony regarding forensic evidence of bite marks was also considered to unusable today, as the methods they use are today dismissed as fact. When Duboise was convicted, Judge Harry Coe overruled the jury's recommendation of a life sentence in favor of the death penalty, but that was changed back to life after an appeal.

State Attorney Andrew Warren made the announcement, and Duboise could be released in a matter or days. Warren set up a Conviction Review Unit which will work with The Innocence Project when it is representing someone who petitions its help.
