Could a new high-speed bullet train be the answer to congestion on our roads?
Hyperloop Transportation Technologies is pitching their system to the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transit Authority, and it's something we've never seen before. At least, not outside of science fiction. The difference is that this is real. Hyperloop, a concept originally pitched by Tesla starter Elon Musk, is a new technology that uses an electrically powered magnetic levitation system for its capsules moving people or cargo at high speed. Sounds simple enough.
The California-based company's pitch is set up in phases. The first would connect Tampa and St. Petersburg in raised tubes. The second phase connects St. Petersburg to Bradenton. The third phase becomes even more ambitious and connects Bradenton to Sarasota, Venice, Port Charlotte, Fort Myers, Naples, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.
HyperloopTT is a competitor for high-speed travel with Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Hyperloop One. Similar plans for Hyperloop travel involve speeds that would cut travel times in half, moving at over 700 miles per hour in comfort.
What do you think? Is it time to move into these futuristic plans?

The cars inside the tubes will be as futuristic as it gets.
