October is a great time to escape the Florida heat and enjoy the fall foliage in Boston. My visit home is never complete without a stop at Modern Pastry. Bostonians (and tourists) will fight over which is better – Modern Pastry or Mike’s Pastry. I can’t declare a winner. I love ’em both. Modern is a little more authentically Italian, but I like Mike’s selection better. But I was so full from devouring the cream puff that I didn’t make it to Mike’s this trip.  Here’s what was in the bakery case!
