More stores are taking the Chaokoh brand of coconut milk off of their shelves.
About a month ago, a story came out that monkeys were being forced into labor to harvest coconuts for this coconut milk brand. Since then there have been many grocery and convenience store chains to remove the product. More than 25,000 stores including Costco, Walgreens, Food Lion, and Stop & Shop have banned the product.
These are big time names. Just recently, another huge grocery chain agreed to remove Chaokah from their grocery lineup for use of monkey labor.
That store is Wegman’s.
More info can be found HERE.
This product is still sold at Kroger and Albertson’s. We’ll see if they too decide to remove the product as more details come out about the monkeys.
