With the cold temperatures we've had in the Tampa area over the past couple weeks, you might have considered doing the drive down to Apollo Beach to see the manatees at Tampa Electric's Manatee Viewing Center. When temperatures drop below 68 degrees you can usually spot those adorable creatures swimming where the power plant discharges warm water.

Well, I've got good news and bad news for you. First the bad news.

Don't do the drive. Thanks to our old friend coronavirus, they didn't open last month. But they still hoped to open at some point this season. Unfortunately with the COVID-19 uptick, they've decided to put off opening until next fall. The likely opening date with be November 1, 2021, according to Channel 8. [Source: Channel 8]

So what's the good news? The cameras are running so you can still watch them swim around anytime you like with just a click. There are two cameras. The east camera usually has some good viewing!
