TAMPA, FL - FEBRUARY 07: Large crowds gather in the Ybor City district on the eve Super Bowl LV on February 7, 2021 in Tampa, Florida. In addition to social social distancing, the City of Tampa and the NFL have encouraged the general public to wear a mask and properly sanitize during Super Bowl weekend festivities. During the pandemic, folks continue to go out and socialize.

Now four more businesses will participate in a public hearing Monday, which will determine whether or not they’ll have their liquor licenses suspended. The businesses are all in Ybor City: 7th + Grove, The Ritz Ybor, Prana Ybor’s Premier Nitespot and Purple Heart Bar Longue and Grill

Last week, two other businesses had their liquor licenses suspended because of coronavirus violations.

According to the city’s zoning administrator, these businesses are violators of local COVID-19 executive orders. Specifically, patrons violated the city’s mask ordinance.

Attorney Luke Lirot is representing some of these businesses and he explains that a 30-day suspension would kill these businesses. “A suspension for 30 days after the nine months suspension imposed by the governor… it’s a double whammy that virtually no one could survive.”
