The invasion isn’t happening and the beloved parades aren’t happening. One event, however, has found a way.

The announcement came down that even after postponing the 2021 Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic, health safety is still an issue to tackle. The CDC’s guidelines tell us that the Covid-19 positivity rate is still higher than what they deem safe for “large mass gatherings”.

As previously reported, the new dates for Race Weekend are May 8th and 9th. The decision was made to convert the runs into a “100% Virtual Experience”.

What does this mean?

The City of Tampa will still allow the closure of Bayshore Blvd. for the weekend’s runs. Registered participants can still run their races, virtually.

The 8 On Your Side Health & Fitness Expo will also still happen on May 7th and 8th at the Tampa Convention Center’s East Hall. Participants can pick up their packet at the expo.
