If you're a Bucs fan, you loved it when safety Antoine Winfield Jr. taunted Kansas City Chief Tyreek Hill during the Buccaneers' 31-9 Super Bowl victory.
If there was ever a time for taunting, that was it. It was payback time for Winfield Jr. He said, "The taunting, man, it's something I had to do. When we played them earlier, Hill went off on us. He backflipped right in front of my face and gave me the peace sign. So it was only right that I gave him the peace sign right back to him. It felt amazing to be able to do that."
Though it felt good for Winfield Jr., the NFL issued Winfield Jr. an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, and he was fined $7,815.
But Winfield Jr. is elevating the incident even further. He's matching that amount and making a total donation of $15,630 to Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Youth Leadership Program at Tampa's Young Middle Magnet School.
Winfield Jr. explained, "Since it got a lot of media attention, it was out there and I wanted to just spin it in a way to make it positive."
When you get down to it...is a throwing a peace sign really that bad? No matter what the NFL thinks, Winfield Jr. turned it into something really good.
