Is it warm enough to get back in the water?

You can go for it at Adventure Island on March 6th. Tampa's premiere water park reopens just in time to entertain flocks of spring breakers.

Adventure Island is just across the way from Bush Gardens. It's located at 10001 Malcolm McKinley Drive.

Back in the day when I was a kid visiting Adventure Island, it was very different. Still a lot of fun but basically just some slides and a wave pool. I remember what a big deal it was when we took our 45 minute drive over from Pinellas County. Adventure Island was the BEST day ever!

Now the 30-acre water park has added corkscrew slides, waterfalls, and Solar Vortex, which I tried a couple of years back when it first opened, and it's amazing!

What I love most now at Adventure Island is the lazy river.

Neal Thurman is president and general manager for Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Adventure Island, and he said, "We are thrilled to offer a limited-capacity environment where Florida families can enjoy an outdoor, open-air experience together, especially for the spring break season. In addition to our water park reopening, our Food & Wine Festival underway across the street at Busch Gardens. Combined with world-class coasters and fascinating animal habitats, they offer Florida families a spring break staycation with something exciting for everyone."

Of course, there will be coronavirus-prevention safety measures in place. Guests' temperatures will be taken at the door. And just like at Busch Gardens, reservations are a must.

Obviously, face coverings won't be required in the water or on water rides, but will be required for guests 2 and up in designated spaces.
