Watch The Tampa Bay Lightning Stanley Cup Championship Banner Being Raised
It was a very special night last night at Amalie Arena as the Bolts welcomed fans back to the game. Granted it was a limited capacity, but it felt good hearing real cheers from the crowd. The Lightning promised fans at the start of this new season that they wouldn’t raise the Stanley Cup championship banner until fans were let back in the building. Some fans were not lucky enough to watch on TV given that there is some fighting between cable networks and cable companies in the Tampa area. I missed it since I was doing the Q105 Saturday Night Dance Party, so if you missed it too, here it is!
The only bummer was that the Lightning’s usual arena voice Paul ‘Pipes’ Porter didn’t narrate the open. I’m not quite sure why. Paul is also the voice of the Orlando Magic, but they didn’t play last night. Regardless, the ceremony was great. It was great to hear retired TV announcer Rick Peckham host. Peckham stepped away from the booth after 24 seasons.
