Hillsborough County Sheriff Announced Arrest In Tampa Kidnapping
A man arrested on unrelated charges is believed to be connected to the kidnapping of a 1-year-old in a stolen vehicle.
The event happened Tuesday, February 16, in Valrico. The infant was sleeping in the family’s SUV which was unlocked and running. The thief stole the vehicle, which was eventually found three miles away at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. The baby, Tinnley West, was found unharmed.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was investigating burglaries and in the process, arrested 26-year-old Rashad Mann. He and another suspect were taken in as suspects connected to multiple burglaries in Hillsborough County. While in custody, detectives believed Mann was connected to the kidnapping case in February. DNA samples from Mann matched samples taken from the stolen vehicle.
Sheriff Chad Chronister said:
“I am so proud of the deputies and detectives who worked this case and excited to announce we have apprehended the kidnapper. It is my hope that baby Tinnley’s family can finally find some comfort knowing Rashad Mann, the individual who has created nightmares for this family, is behind bars.”
