Miami Beach Imposes Emergency Spring Break Curfew
On Saturday, March 21, the city of Miami Beach enacted an emergency curfew from 8pm to 6am.
Thousands of ‘spring breakers’ gathered on the streets of Miami Beach without masks and also failed to maintain social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic. There was destruction to Miami Beach restaurants and fights in the streets. In the declaration of the state of emergency, Miami Beach says there have been over 1,000 arrests since the beginning of February.
Originally the emergency curfew was only to last for 72 hours. However, the city has now extended the curfew for three weeks through April 12th.
