Small Plane Lands Near Lakeland On Polk Parkway

There are airports all around the Tampa Bay area, but this plane apparently couldn’t make it to any of them.

The grass shoulder along the Polk Parkway near Lakeland became a temporary runway. The plane landed on it, and partially blocked the road close to exit 4.

Lakeland Police and Lakeland Fire Department did not know what forced the pilot to land alongside the road. The plane caused the eastbound lanes to close until it could be loaded onto a trailer.

There were two aboard the plane and no injuries.
