Glasnow, Cash discuss his outing and hand cramping

Yesterday in New York, the Tampa Bay Rays continued their domination over the New York Yankees. It’s been a weird series with Yankees fans throwing things at their own team to express their frustration. One Yankees reporter tweeted “The organization should be embarrassed. The fans should be embarrassed. I’m somehow embarrassed.”

Another strange moment happened when all of a sudden, Rays pitcher Tyler Glasnow was writhing in pain just as he was about to start the 5th inning. He grabbed his hand and was double over in agony. The team medical staff rushed to the mound to see what they could do. Turns out, water was the solution. It was a hand cramp… have you ever heard of a thing like that?

In his chat after the game with the press, Tyler says it started in the 4th inning but the pain really got bad in the 5th. He says he had pain in more usual spots too like his leg, but a hand cramp is pretty unusual. Kevin Cash says he’s glad Tyler’s ok but couldn’t remember ever seeing anything like this. Glasnow says he’s thankful for the coach keeping him in the game. The Rays went on to win 6 to 3.
