Shake Shack Announces Midtown Tampa Opening Date
The wait is over… almost! Shake Shack has announced the details of their grand opening for their first Tampa area location. The first Shake Shack opened in 2004 in NYC’s Madison Square Park. There are now over 300 Shake Shack locations in 27 states. You’ll find a handful of them in other parts of Florida like Orlando and Miami. There’s also one in Sarasota. They’ve even gone international with restaurants in London, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Dubai, Philippines, Singapore, Mexico, Tokyo, and Seoul. The restaurant chain will open its doors on Monday, June 7 at 11am at Midtown Tampa at 1011 Gramercy Lane in Tampa, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
We spoke with Shake Shack Area Director Erik Hugley about plans for opening day.
Shake Shack will initially be open from 11am to 9pm Sunday through Thursday. They’ll stay open an extra hour until 10pm on Friday and Saturday. They’ll have seating both inside and outdoors. To speed up getting your order, you can download their mobile app. You know there will be big crowds for the first few months. This has been a highly-anticipated addition for Florida fast food lovers. If you’d like to avoid the crowds altogether, you can set up a delivery with the app. Plus they say you’ll be able to order via their website soon.
Shake Shack is best known for “the ShackBurger®.” But there’s also the Chick’n Shack, crinkle-cut fries and hand-spun shakes. Listeners told me about Shake Shack when I was visiting New York City for the holidays a few years ago. Set a reminder now to go then because their Christmas Cookie milkshake is life-changing.
Another thing that sets Shake Shack apart from others is they actually serve adult beverages too! They’ll offer wine, ShackMeister® Ale brewed by Brooklyn Brewery, and local beer from Florida Beer Co. and Cigar City Brewing.
Although they’re a national chain, they’re looking to make a great first impression with Tampa burger lovers. They’ll donate a dollar for every sandwich ordered on opening day to Feeding Tampa Bay. They’ve also created a unique “Pride Shake” featuring strawberry and blackberry frozen custard topped with a mango + passion fruit blend, whipped cream and rainbow glitter to honor The Trevor Project, which provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ young people under 25.
