Weekdays 10:00am - 3:00pm

Some money is coming our way from the a government grant to launch the “SunRunner” bus service, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal. The 10 mile direct route between St. Pete Beach and downtown St. Petersburg will run along Central Avenue. The ride will hopefully keep some visitors off the road.

The plan is to have the bus run every 15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes at night. There will only be a few stops along the way to speed up the trip. According to the SunRunner website, there will be free WiFi on board, and space for bikes. You won’t need to fumble for change or dollar bills. You’ll be able to pay for your trip with a smartphone.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced the plan Friday. St. Petersburg gets $3.3 million. Federal funding for Florida transportation projects will be around $35 million. Miami gets the biggest chunk with almost $30 million. Jacksonville and St. Pete got about the same amount. [Source: TBBJ]
