It’s that time of year we hear about lots of shark encounters in the news. Videos have gone viral this week of sharks getting a little too close for comfort….

It's that time of year we hear about lots of shark encounters in the news. Videos have gone viral this week of sharks getting a little too close for comfort. This week, one young girl was bitten and a hammerhead in Boca Grande swam right up to the shore.

Sharks are more likely to share space with beach goers this time of year as they like to chow down on tarpon and stingrays. A retired scientist gave these 5 tips to Channel 8 for what to do and not to do to stay safe. [Source: Channel 8]
