You've been driving through a downpour, and most everyone turns on their headlights. You do see in these heavier storms some people have also turned on their hazard lights. That is a change in the law.
According to the bill that became law today, July 1, drivers in Florida may use their flashing lights "During periods of extremely low visibility on roadways with a posted speed limit of 55 miles per hour or higher."
The bill also gives local governments to end their maintenance of roads that are in gated subdivisions that are monitored. In other words, for qualifying gated communities, if you're required either access cards or there's a security check, local governments don't need to foot the cost for road maintenance, drainage, signs, signals, guardrails, or other traffic control, saving money for local governments.
