Tampa weather forecasters are in agreement that Elsa will wreak havoc on our area beginning this afternoon. The worst conditions are likely to be seen tonight into Wednesday morning. Tropical storm strength winds are expected and it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Elsa could reach hurricane status again.
Denis Phillips from ABC Action News says he saw no real changes in the 11pm update Monday night. He says the biggest concerns will be the rain and surge. Waters may rise 3 or 4 feet during high tide. Denis says those who live along the coast say they should think back to Tropical Storm ETA. If you saw flood conditions then, you might see similar impacts with Elsa. Power outages can certainly be expected so charging up cell phones now is a great idea. The closer you are to the coast, the heavier the winds. All should be pretty much over by midday Wednesday.
