File photo: The Sarasota County Sheriffs Office and other surrounding law enforcement agencies continue their search in the T. Mabry Carlton Jr. Memorial Reserve for Brian Laundrie, who is a person of interest after his fiancé Gabby Petito went missing on September 21, 2021 in Venice, Florida. A body has been found by authorities in Wyoming that fits the description of Petito, who went missing while on a cross country trip with Laundrie.

Channel 8 reports this morning that there may be a big break in the hunt for Brian Laundrie. A hiker named Dennis Davis says he saw Laundrie hiking along the Appalachian Trail near the Tennessee/North Carolina border. Davis claims he saw Laundrie in a parking lot and even talked to him. During the conversation, the man he thinks was Laundrie told him that he had to get to California to see his girlfriend because they had a fight and he misses her. Davis says the man he thinks was Brian Laundrie was driving a white truck.

Davis says after the conversation, he pulled photos of Laundrie up on his phone and reported the sighting to authorities. The Haywood County Sheriff’s Office says they received “at least 10” reports of Brian Laundrie sightings this weekend, according to Channel 8.

Laundrie has been missing for weeks since his fiance Gabby Petito’s remains were found. There is speculation that the FBI knows more than what they’re saying right now and are just keeping the information “close to the vest.” [Sources: Fox 13, Channel 8]
